December 1 is World AIDS Day. According to http://www.worldaidsday.org, there is “33.4 million people living with HIV worldwide, 31.3 million adults, 15.7 million women, and 2.1 million children under 15”.
In honor of World AIDS Day, the Oakland County Health Division Nurses will be doing Rapid HIV Testing with same day results. 21% of the people who are infected with HIV have no idea that they have it. The first step to stopping the spread of the deadly disease is to get tested.
There will be an AIDS Memorial Quilt, volunteers, and information available on how to keep yourself educated and safe. There will also be a doll display from the organization STITCHES. The display is an array of dolls created by HIV infected women. Each doll represents a different person and their story. STITCHES now has over 200 dolls.
Stop by The Royal Oak Campus on December 1, 2010 from 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. and get tested. The HIV testing rooms are C-117 and C-109. The Royal Oak Campus is located at 739 S. Washington Royal Oak, MI 48067. If you have any questions, contact Stacey Jackson at (248)246-2586 or mailto:firstname.lastname@example.org
