EASTPOINTE, Mich. — Eastpointe police are searching for a man who allegedly shot his girlfriend 3 times.
Tammy Hunes, 19, went to her boyfriend’s Eastpointe home Sunday afternoon on Ego Street, near Gratiot and Eight Mile roads, to pick up their 4-month-old son.
Police said after a disagreement with her boyfriend, 21-year-old Darnell Logan, Hunes attempted to leave.
Eastpointe police Lt. Scott Bourgeois said Hunes was attacked right after she left the house.
“She left to get into her car. The suspect came out of his house as she was entering the car. He stuck his hand in the window and fired approximately three rounds at her. She fled with the car to a neighbor’s house, where she was transported to an area hospital,” Bourgeois said.
Hunes was taken to St. John’s Hospital and is reported to be in serious condition.
The baby was inside the house during the shooting and was not harmed.
Logan immediately fled the scene and is now on the loose.
Police said he drives a 1997 GMC Suburban, with tinted windows and 24-inch rims.
Police also told Local 4 that Logan has been convicted of violent felonies in the past.
This past March, Hunes filed restraining orders against Logan, protecting herself and her son from him, according to police.
Police said they consider Logan to be armed and dangerous.
