DETROIT – A Wayne County Judge has revoked embattled political consultant Sam Riddle’s bond and ordered him held in jail until at least Friday.

Riddle appeared Tuesday morning in Third Circuit Court before Judge Gregory Bill for a motion to amend his bond in a domestic violence case.

Local 4 has learned that Riddle violated the terms of his bond by talking on the phone with the alleged victim, former State Rep. Mary Waters.

Riddle is accused of pointing a loaded shotgun at Waters, who was his live-in girlfriend in December, after she said she found him in bed with another woman.

Riddle was charged with felonious assault and felony firearms possession. The Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office had said at a hearing last week that they would most likely extend a plea deal to Riddle.

Waters was in court Tuesday pleading with the judge not to send Riddle to jail.

Riddle’s attorney Mark Mandell asked the judge to have compassion claiming Waters made the phone call and that it was very brief.

Bill had said he wanted Riddle to remain in jail until his assault trial got under way May 3, but instead he ordered him to be held at least until Friday.

Riddle will be housed at the Division III in Hamtramck. Wayne County Sheriff officials said that due to his high-profile statues, he will be held in protective custody away from the other inmates.

He will receive a routine medical and mental health evaluation.

Waters and Riddles are co-defendants in a bribery case. Mandell said because they are co-defendants they need to communicate.

Separately, the two are accused of taking bribes in exchange for helping a pawnshop move and expand in Southfield. They are scheduled to go to trial in that case in June. DETROIT — A Wayne County Judge has revoked embattled political consultant Sam Riddle’s bond and ordered him held in jail until at least Friday.
