Health screenings for blood pressure, glucose and lead, tips on parenting and information on child abuse and stress will be given during a city-sponsored resource fair in Detroit.

The free event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Detroit Science Center, which is located at 5020 John R Street.

It’s part of the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion celebration of Parenting Awareness Month.

Health department director Yvonne Anthony says the resource fair aims “to encourage parents to create a healthy and safe environment for their children.”

The city says hundreds of people attended Parenting Awareness Month events last year.
