There was a sense of undoubted relief yesterday among the Jackson family when a jury found Dr. Conrad Murray, the personal physician to Michael Jackson at the time of his death, guilty for involuntary manslaughter in the pop icon’s death in 2009.
Speaking briefly to TMZ as the family left the courthouse after the verdict was handed down, Michael’s mother Katherine Jackson said, “Justice was served. I thank the jury for doing the right thing.”
Later in the day, the family released a statement expressing their joy and satisfaction with the ruling:
“We have been waiting for this moment for a very long time and we couldn’t hold back tears of joy in the courtroom. Even though nothing can bring back our son, justice has finally been served! We can’t wait to go home and share this day with Michael’s children.”
Meanwhile, Conrad Murray and his attorneys already have an appeal in mind. Turn the page for more on where Murray is currently staying, his upcoming sentencing, and if he will serve any jail time.
