Whitney Houston looks vibrant and stunning in her final film role, Sparkle. Sony Pictures released the trailer for the movie this morning and it looks like it will be a must see.
Directed by Salim Akil (Jumping the Broom) and produced by his wife Mara Brock Akil (“Girlfriends,” “The Game”), the 1970s remake sees Whitney as the mother of Sparkle (played by Jordin Sparks).
Synopsis: Musical prodigy Sparkle struggles to become a star while overcoming issues that are tearing her family apart. From an affluent Detroit area and daughter to a single mother, she tries to balance a new romance with music manager, Stix while dealing with the unexpected challenges her new life will bring as she and her two sisters strive to become a dynamic singing group during the Motown-era.
Tika Sumpter, Derek Luke, Mike Epps, Cee Lo Green, Carmen Ejogo, Omari Hardwick, Terrence J., and Michael Beach also star in the movie, which will be in theaters on August 17.
