Ever wonder what goes through the mind of the shoe designer who created your favorite pair of statement heels? To find out, we caught up with celeb favorite, Alejandro Ingelmo, a product of four generations of shoemakers. Here’s what he had to say about his sultry new Fall 2013 collection at the NYC’s Standard Hotel Saturday night.

What was your inspiration for Fall 2013?

I was definitely feeling this whole idea of light and you know there’s a lot of transparency, and it goes from light to darkness. We just collaborated with an artist who works with neon and lighting and that type of medium. Like this silhouette (points to a cutout heel), the whole inspiration was the bone, like the ribs of somebody and I love all that kind of stuff. And there’s also another style which is the Mariposa, which means butterfly. And you know we were feeling military green this season, so you’ll see a lot in the collection; as well as steel metallic, but metallic this season has tinfoil, so it has more texture to it.

    What’s your favorite pair?

I’ve got a couple of them. One of them is the skeleton one and the Mariposa. And I love the Odyssey (purplish-black heel with lazer cut detail), just for the pattern work- there’s a lot of work involved in it. It looks really simple but it’s not. There’s a lot of stitching work and you look in and it reads a little bit like black, but there’s a lot of texture to it.

Well, there you have it! Check out our fav heels from Alejandro’s Fall 2013 collection!
