A pit bull bit off a substantial portion of a man’s tongue Wednesday when he stuck it out in an attempt to befriend the pet, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say it was the second dog bite incident involving that animal within the last four months.
The 33-year-old Rochester man was visiting a friend who owns the dog and lives in the 800 block of North Perry in Pontiac, according to a media release issued by police. At 11:18 p.m. Wednesday, police and medical personnel were called to the home after the dog bit the man.Police learned the man was attempting to befriend the dog and stuck out his tongue while face-to-face with it when the dog lashed out and bit off a substantial portion of the man’s tongue. The man was transported to McLaren Hospital in Pontiac for treatment.
