A Detroit Police officer is injured and a suspect is recovering from a gunshot wound after an armed robbery on the city’s east side.
Sources say it happened late Thursday night after a group of men robbed a barber shop with AK-47s. Gunfire was exchanged with customers carrying CPLs.
Customers say the suspects got away in a red Dodge Charger.
Police tracked the vehicle to 4150 Woodhall where a sergeant was hit by the Charger as the suspects attempted to flee.
A second officer opened fire, hitting one of the suspects in the leg.
No further details have been released on the sergeant or suspect’s condition or if there were any arrests.
This group of men is also suspected in a string of car thefts. They are suspected of pushing cars into an isolated location and stealing or stripping them.
Police call them “ruthless,” saying they have opened fire on residents who come out of their home while the the crew is stealing their car.
