Today is the second anniversary of the tragic and untimely death of Florida teen, Trayvon Martin. His life was cut short at the hands of an overzealous, self-proclaimed neighborhood watchman, whom we’ve chosen to no longer name. Because we stand on a platform that many people of color respect, we’ve decided to keep Trayvon’s legacy alive while telling youth of color that their lives matter.
We’ve tapped a number of Hollywood’s A-listers to help in the effort–from Tia Mowry to Ciara and Reverend Al Sharpton to Lala Anthony. We were lucky enough to get amazing songstress, Tiara Thomas to join us in this fight.
We are here to be a mouthpiece for our generation. We want young men of color to know that while they may wear the same hoodie Trayvon Martin wore and walk to the store for a snack, just as he did, their lives don’t have to end in the same way. To the young men who have looked at this tragedy in fear, know this-–Your Life Matters. We want to give Tiara a special THANK YOU for joining us in this fight! Her message is extremely heartfelt and potent.
Share your stories of inspiration to uplift this generation. We need it right now!
