It seems like it was just yesterday when we met Ashanti, the “Foolish” and “Happy” singer who always traveled deep with her Murder Inc. crew. Now, over a decade later, she’s a solo star and CEO of her own label.
The 33-year-old songstress, who dropped her first album in six years this month, sat down with Billboard to promote the project, perfectly titled Braveheart. Along with revealing the not-so-glamorous sides of running an indie record label, Ashanti took a trip down memory lane and shared her favorite memories while on Murder Inc.
With captains Irv Gotti and rapper Ja Rule by her side, the self-proclaimed Princess Of Hip-Hop & R&B gushed about filming a music video with Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, partying with the prince in the south of France and arriving to award shows with a group of shirtless men ready to fight.
