MONROE, Mich. — A Monroe mother is due in a Detroit federal court for a detention hearing Wednesday afternoon after she was charged with sexually exploiting her daughter.
Police said the crime was discovered after the FBI found sexually explicit photos of her young daughter on a convicted sex offender’s computer.
James Frazee told investigators that he created a paid Web site more than seven years ago to display photos of young girls.
Investigators said the girl’s 45-year-old mother would drive to Western Union locations to pick up money orders from customers.
Frazee was charged Tuesday with production and possession of child pornography. He’s in the Monroe County Jail in another case and has not appeared in federal court in Detroit.
The mother appeared in court Tuesday and asked for a lawyer. She had remained in custody until the Wednesday’s detention.
Authorities are not identifying the mom in order to protect her daughter. It’s unclear if the victim is still a minor.
