Rochester HillsA 17-year-old was arraigned Wednesday on charges stemming from bringing a firearm to Rochester High School last week.

On June 8, several students were in the locker room preparing for an event when Allante Thompson came in and pulled a handgun from his waistband, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said.

Thompson pointed the gun in a student’s face and pulled the trigger, but the weapon was empty, sheriff’s officials said.

No one was injured, and Thompson, who attends the Alternative Center for Education in Rochester Hills and played on the Rochester High School basketball team, left the scene.

The other student didn’t report the incident until Friday, and the sheriff’s office began investigating.

Thompson was arrested without incident Wednesday at his Pontiac home.

He was arraigned before 52-3 District Court Magistrate Marie Soma on charges of carrying a handgun in a weapons-free school zone, a five-year felony, and felonious assault in a weapons free school zone, a four-year felony.

Thompson is in the Oakland County Jail on a $5,000 cash bond.
