ABC 7 Detroit – Quintin Simmons says his heart goes out to his neighbor’s 12-year-old son. The boy frantically tried to help his father after he had been stabbed by an intruder.
40-year-old Phillip Wade was returning home with his son ‘little Phil’ and his brother on Sunday.
Police say someone had broken in and when Wade confronted him he was stabbed, and the burglar was stabbed as well.
Simmons tried to calm Wade’s son after Wade collapsed in the driveway, “I can only imagine how I’d be if my father died in my arms,” said Simmons.
Wade’s brother was also injured in the attack but should recover. The intruder died in a neighbor’s back yard.
Police say there may have been two other burglars inside the house as well.
