Former President Bill Clinton has been hospitalized in New York.
A statement by the former president’s office says that Clinton was taken to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for treatment after experiencing discomfort in his chest. He went to the hospital after meeting with his cardiologist. After arriving at the hospital, Clinton underwent a procedure where doctors implanted two stents into one of his cardiac arteries.
Clinton has a history of heart problems. He underwent an quadruple coronary artery bypass surgery in 2004 after suffering angina while campaigning for John Kerry. At the time doctors said if he had not undergone the procedure he would have suffered a heart attack.
The former president has been in the news lately in his capacity as Special Envoy to Haiti. Both he and former President George W. Bush have been working to raise money for the country in the wake of last month’s earthquake.
ABC is reporting the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is still in Washington, DC for meetings in the Oval Office. According to ABC, she was spotted leaving the office and “too concerned” or “in a rush.”
