In an interview with TheUrbanDaily, Dres of Black Sheep clarified our earlier report that implied he was upset with KIA Motors. A commercial featuring his hit song “The Choice Is Yours” has many hip-hop fans wondering if he had a hand in it or was at least getting paid for it.
In an interview with Vibe magazine Dres said “Universal the record label were the ones who signed off on it,” but the legendary MC is still weighing his options with the Motor Company.
“It’s still kind of being digested really. The jury is still out on how I’m going to move forward,” Dres told TheUrbandaily. “I own my publishing so I’m definitely not worried about being paid for the commercial. It’ll work itself out.”
Dres is hard at work promoting his latest studio album, The Black Pool of Genius that features guest appearances from Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, AZ, Jean Grea and Rosie Perez.
Look for a full interview with Dres in coming days where he talks about everything from Dave Chappelle’s “Black Sheep” parody to reuniting with The Native Tongues.
