Rep. Charlie Rangel toned it down a little Friday but remained defiant, saying ethics accusations against him are painful, but he’s sticking around to defend himself despite the heat.
“I’m in the kitchen, and I’m not walking out,” the Democratic lion said at a dramatic Harlem press conference.
He suggested he called the conference against his lawyers’ advice, in hopes of getting the press to stop stalking him.
But he declined to elaborate on the charges against him or on the process that he’s gone though, saying only that it will all come out Thursday, when a House ethics subcommittee lays out what it considers to be Rangel’s ethical transgressions.
