Beyonce is all about keeping it 100 in the last installment to her self-titled mini documentary. Titled “Honesty,” the five-and-a-half minute clip takes us into the studio with Queen Bey as she records one of the most sensual tracks on her new album, “Rocket.”
“I’ve done so many things in my life, in my career, that I feel like at this point I’ve earned the right to be me and to express any and every side of myself,” she said of making age appropriate music. “Now I’m in my 30s, and those children that grew up listening to me have grown up, and I always felt like it was my responsibility to be aware of kids and their parents and all these generations…And I felt like, in a sense, I could not express everything.”
The 32-year-old wife and mother said she tapped into her real “life experiences to pull inspiration.”
“What I love about this [“Rocket”] is, it takes you through this journey,” she said over clips of the sexy black-and-white video. “You’re flirting and you’re talking all of your arrogant s–t. Then you climax, and then you have your cigarette… I feel like I’m opening up a lot in these videos and showing a lot of sides to me that only a few people have ever seen.”
While recording the record — which was penned by Bey, Justin Timberlake and Miguel — the songstress said there “was a moment in the studio where I didn’t want to stop singing it, and I just kind of zoned out.”
“Um, wow, there’s something wrong with you,” J.T. said, admiring her work. “That is…there’s something wrong with you.”
“You set women free!” Pharrell chimed in. “That record is a phenomenon!”
According to Billboard, the Beyonce’s self-titled album remains No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for the third week in a row, the longest run for any album since last April.
